Description

This is the first of two linked French language modules to be taken over Semesters 1 and 2 in the second year (Intermediate French) of the beginners' pathway to French Studies BA (Hons) (FREUO2) open to students with no French qualification but who would normally have an A-level in another foreign language or equivalent knowledge thereof. The Pathway enables students to study French through to B.A (Hons) level.This first Intermediate French language module builds on the CEFR A2 (Common European Framework of Reference A2 Level) competence attained in Year One and further develops the candidate's language skills so that s/he will attain CEFR B1 (Common European Framework of Reference B1 threshold/intermediate level) by the end of Semester 1 and be equipped with the skills required to achieve CEFR B2 (Common European Framework of Reference B2 level) by the end of the second linked module in Semester 2. The candidate will then be able to pursue their study on a Year Abroad and join the BA (Hons) French Studies programme (FREU02) in Year Four.The new L2 linked modules will offer four hours of intensive intermediate French Language per week. Three hours will be focused on written French language and one hour on oral work.
